THE ROLLRIGHT STONES
The Rollright Stones is a ancient site located 2 miles from the market on the Oxfordshire/Warwickshire border. Consisting of three parts: The Kings Men stone circle, the King Stone, and the Whispering Knights. The King's Men, a late Neolithic ceremonial Stone Circle dates from 2500 to 2000 BC. The Stones are open to the public every day from sunrise to sunset for a very modest entry fee of £1 for adults and 50p for children aged over 7.
WYATTS PLANT CENTRE, FARM SHOP AND TEA ROOM
Located within a mile of Great Rollright, this family business is located on the cotswold scarp. As well as an amazing range of plants for the garden, there is produce from the farms shop, a gift shop and cafe. Wyatts has also been making its own delicious artisan ice cream using organic milk produced by their own dairy herd of Friesian cows.
CHIPPING NORTON TOWN
Three miles from Great Rollright, Chipping Norton is the highest town in Oxfordshire. There has been a market here since the 13th century and was a major wool-trading town in the 15th century. The town offers plenty of retail therapy including several antique shops and a wide selection of restaurants, Inns and Pubs.
Chipping Norton Museum is an independent museum run by the Local History Society. Open from Easter until end of October on Monday to Saturday & Bank Holiday Mondays 2pm to 4pm. Entrance £1 Children free but must be accompanied by adult.
Other attractions include the great 'wool' church of St Mary, the Town Hall, Almshouses, Bliss Mill and the Theatre
THE THEATRE CHIPPING NORTON
A mixed arts venue, hosting, co-producing and supporting some of the most exciting, accessible and entertaining culture in the region. The fabulous bulding began life as a Salvation Army Citadel, but after extensive work, was opened as a Theatre in 1975 by Tom Baker, the Dr Who of the time. Not just a theatre, but also an arthouse cinema, a gallery and a concert hall and a resource for the local community. A professional venue, welcoming over 53,000 visitors every year to a wide variety of drama and musical performance, workshops, concerts and art exhibitions.
FAIRYTALE FARM
The UK's first visitor attraction to put disabled children first, but loved by children (and adults) of all abilities. Everything is designed around the needs of children with sensory, learning and physical disabilities, but which can be enjoyed by children without disabilities too. A truly inclusive experience.Open 10am to 5pm every day except Christmas day. COTSWOLD GOLF CLUB
Situated on the outskirts of Chipping Norton, the golf course consists of an undulating 6,316 yards, 18 hole, par 71 golf course, set out in two loops, comprising tree-lined fairways, in a delightful but challenging setting, for golfers of all abilities.
HOOK NORTON BREWERY
Hook Norton is one of only 32 family owned breweries and is the finest example of a Victorian Tower Brewery in the country. As well as a shop, Brewery tours are available Monday to Saturday.
BREWERY MUSEUM
Located in the original malt house buildings the Brewery and Village museum houses some of the old equipment that has been used across the years at Hook Norton, alongside many fascinating records and photographs from the era. Free entry, open Monday - Saturday 09.30am to 4.30pm.
WHICHFORD POTTERY
This famous working pottery is open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm, Saturday 10am-5pm. Browse the shop, take a tour of the pottery (Monday to Thursday) and chat to the potters. See how their pots are made and decorated. Every week, 6 tonnes of raw clay are turned into 600 handmade flowerpots by a specialist team of thirty craftsmen and women.
COTSWOLD DISTILLERY
Located in Stourton, the distillery produces award winning artisan spirits using traditional, centuries old distilling methods and local ingredients.
A shop and tasting room is open Mon-Sat from 9am to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm.
Tours run at 11am and 2 pm daily, and must be booked in advance. Children must be aged over 8 and accompanied. ID is required.
